This Week with ECJKD: Stories from Bruce and Jerry

Explore stories about how my teacher Jerry Poteet helped bring the Tao of Jeet Kune Do to life and why Bruce made sparring mandatory.

What’s up ECJKD Community,

I’m excited to share two new videos this week, diving into lesser known stories of Bruce Lee and his student, my teacher, Jerry Poteet. These videos offer unique insights into the legacy and philosophies that continue to inspire our training.

1. The Making of Tao of Jeet Kune Do & Jerry's Involvement

In our first video, we take an in-depth look at the creation of "Tao of Jeet Kune Do," Bruce Lee's notes to self on martial arts philosophy and application in real combat. Discover the story of how this book came to be, with Jerry Poteet playing a crucial role in its development. You'll learn about Jerry's contribution and how his time training with Bruce helped bring the book to life.

2. Why Bruce Made Sparring Mandatory for Students

Our second video explores Bruce Lee's decision to make sparring an essential part of his students' training. This practice was not merely about combat skills but also about understanding the principles of Jeet Kune Do in real-time scenarios. Learn why Bruce believed sparring was crucial for developing a true fighter and how this practice continues to be a cornerstone of our training at ECJKD.

Until next week! If you’re considering training, remember, your first class is free. Also, for all students, refer a friend who signs up for a month and get a month of training on us.
